Only 4.1 away from a perfect score.

Humans!

Thrill to the sight of the legendarily awe-inspiring Chalk Circle web presence grinding its gears to life on this balmy Brooklyn evening!

As we're sure you all already know, Not Noiice was reviewed Monday on Pitchfork! You might be too lazy to click on that link so let us just grab a couple of quotes from Mike Orme's review to give you the impression that the review was more favorable than it actually was!

- "some great instrumental jams, some nice riffs, some mesmerizing spoken-word bits coursing through"

- "When Dinosaurs are at their best when they're at their most enigmatic, as on "Big Fuck Party" and "Hypnotic Locks", where they seem willing to let the interplay of their chaotic elements guide the work."

Meanwhile, over at Geek Monthly magazine, Not Noiice gets an 81 out of 100, along with an exhortation to see the band live, which we couldn't agree with more! They're fun!

And Flagpole's Jeff Tobias calls Not Noiice a "great mess" that "acquits itself admirably"! Huzzah!

Remember, you can buy Not Noiice at the venerable Insound.com!

Jah love,

Goings on, 05.24.08 - Buy us beer.

The fine folks at Insound are now carrying Not Noiice by When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth, and as such we are honor-bound to encourage you to purchase it from them.

Perhaps these recent reviews will loosen up your pursestrings:

"...comparable to the Pixies, Sonic Youth, Pavement..." -- Soundcheck Magazine

"A barrage of lo-fi, punk-ethic, flirting with metal, slightly arty dissonance" -- Aquarian Arts Weekly

"Not Noiice is noise's eventual evolution." -- Austin Chronicle

"Just thought you should know im driving my car in Astoria listening to dinosaurs and some guy just yelled "NICE MUSIC, ASSHOLE" -- Alfredo Palao, via text message

One love.

When Dinosaurs Ruled Spin.com and other stories.

On the eve of the largely arbitrary release date for Not Noiice by When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth we have new things to show you.

First, if you click here you will see a fine little featurelet about the band in honor of their being named Spin.com's band of the day for May 11, 2008.

Second, there is a rather kind review of the album at Babysue. It received 4 out of a possible 6 Weird-Looking Little Girls With Their Tongues Jutting Out At A Weird Angle, which equals "very good."

Thirdlike, sctas has good things to say about Dinos in two entries that are currently on the front page. I don't think it's possible to permalink to the individual entries but they're the ones for May 2 & April 28. The latter, in addition to being very complimentary, features a nice drawing of a dinosaur.

Finally, it is still possible to order the album directly from us, by clicking the "Buy Now" button below (which frankly we're thinking of getting rid of as it's starting to get on our nerves for reasons none of us can precisely define).

Tomorrow is the big, arbitrary day. We are prepared. Some would say overprepared. But where are they?

It's business time.

A blog pointed out our lack of web presence today in the course of writing about our flagship act When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth. We might take offense at that if we took offense at that sort of thing. Also, let's be honest, we don't have much in the way of web presence. Our "label website" is a Blogger account for God's sake.

That said, in what we laughingly refer to as our spare time, we have managed to get it together enough to have the Dinos CD manufactured, and it will be available at their shows starting tonight in Austin, TX. It will be officially released for sale on May 13th. That's very soon.

Here is the cover art, by the ridiculously talented Jaclyn Campanaro:

This is what you get.

We drew that logo at the top of the page ourselves. It was easy. We added the text in Photoshop. That was even easier. Ta-da.

Around here we operate under the principle that no names + no faces = no regrets. It is a good policy for brothels and an even better one for record labels.

More soon.
